I suck...seriously, and I have not followed through on my reviews here...but that will change. New review format COMING SOON!

REVIEW: Hanson "Shout It Out"

I was trying to figure out what to review today, and I got halfway through reviewing something I already owned (and loved) when I came across a link to the Billboard preview of the new Hanson album. I know what you're probably thinking: "Hanson? Aren't those kids the ones who sang that incredibly obnoxious Mmmbop song?" Yeah...The very same. Hear me out, it's been 13 years since that song. They've truly grown as songwriters. The following is my first impression of the album as a whole as well as my first impressions of each song.

Shout It Out has a much more lighthearted feel that the band's last couple of albums. Combining soul and infectious pop, the band proves that they still have what it takes to make people move. The album has some weak points, and sadly a distinct lack of lead vocals from one Isaac Hanson, but overall it's a strong record.

The album is available for purchase on June 8, 2010. Give it a listen HERE.

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to Dragon's Lullaby. I'm Amber, your resident dragon and music guide.

Okay, okay...I'm not really a dragon. I'm a actually just a Music Business student and a self-proclaimed music nerd. I guess addict would be a good term. I'm finishing up my final few courses at Berklee Music (and extension of the Berklee College of Music) and I will soon be the proud owner of a Master's Certificate in Music Business and Technology. Sounds fancy, eh?

A brief intro to the community:

I've started Dragon's Lullaby so that I can practice listening to music objectively and sharing my thoughts about said music articulately. (Speaking of articulate, that sure as hell wasn't.) I know I could have just posted this as a blog, but I wanted to make it a community because I'm really looking for input from other people. I want people, community members or not to feel free to share their thoughts on my reviews, as well as provide impressions of their own.

The first step in building this community is right here. The Recommendations Post. Anything, I mean it. Any genre, any country, any language. I will listen to it and do my best to give an unbiased review of the work presented. All I ask is that you provide me with a (preferably legitimate) way to get a hold of the music.

There are millions of artists out there, let's work together to make sure they get heard!
